Hi Everyone,

I trust that the next couple of weeks you will all wind down rather than up, and are looking forward to the spirit of Christmas. Let it be a reminder that it is a time we can spend with our children.

Tinker School Opening

The Tinker School is the next stage of the Kidz Inc social enterprise for sustainable community development. It is aimed at intermediate and high school aged students wanting to explore, create and build projects that matter.

The Tinker School will give school age students from 12-18 years of age the opportunity to work on innovative projects, addressing real world needs. Students will choose projects that will build their knowledge and skills around real world problems and opportunities. They will be involved in choice creation, decision-making and problem solving as they work towards appropriate and sustainable solutions.

They will be resourceful, resilient and enterprising. The long term outcome of being involved in the Tinker School would have students engaged with the local community in joint ventures to address social issues.

Students will have access to processes such as cabinet-making, blacksmithing, enamelling, pewter casting, electronics, robotics, 3D Design and printing to create solutions for themselves. This includes repurposing of electronic components and other materials including wood, metal, plastic to create useful, enterprising and marketable projects.

An open day to come and visit the Tinker School Workshop will take place on Saturday, December 5, from 11am to 4pm at the Valley Community Workspace, 11 Allen Street NEV.

Philosophy around Activities

Kidz Inc provides an range of enrichment technology immersion activities. These activities aim to create fun and engaging environment for children to explore choice and decisions-making. Our Choice Action Management Programme (CHAMP) develops their social skills. By participating in an activity they choose to do, they will develop both their personal capability AND their character. This builds confidence and enhances their self-esteem. They have positive interactions with the children they play with and the play that they do. The result we aim for is that they are doing fun activities together. The Kidz Inc Experience.

The Last Laugh

I love this one, so I've put it in again. Share and enjoy.

Entering Heaven

Three men died on Christmas Eve and were met by Saint Peter at the pearly gates.
"In honour of this holy season," Saint Peter said, "You must each possess something that symbolises Christmas to get into heaven."

The first man fumbled through his pockets and pulled out a lighter. He flicked it on. "It represents a candle," he said. "You may pass through the pearly gates," Saint Peter said.

The second man reached into his pocket and pulled out a set of keys. He shook them and said, "They're bells." Saint Peter said, "You may pass through the pearly gates."

The third man started searching desperately through his pockets and finally pulled out a pair of women's glasses.
St. Peter looked at the man with a raised eyebrow and asked, "And just what do those symbolise?"

The man replied, "They're Carol's."
