NEV Holiday Programme

After almost two years running the after school programme at North East Valley Normal School, Child Youth and Family accredited our holiday programme in July 2014. Kidz Inc NEV service is to meet the childcare needs of the NEV community and surrounding suburbs, including Pine Hill, Opoho, Liberton, Ravensbourne and West Harbour as well as parents who may be studying at the Otago University. Spaces are still available if you are keen to be a part of the Kidz Inc Experience at NEV.

Metiria Turai & Green OSCAR

Metiria paid a visit to the NEV community a couple of weeks ago to talk with us about how community-led initiatives take place in the valley. Green party policy will make after school and holiday programmes available for all children. This is a policy we strongly support. Furthermore Metiria was very interested in how Kidz Inc works with children to have such a high level of engagement and no behaviour issues. She saw that what we were doing was more than childcare, we explained that our focus was developing their capability and character through enrichment activities. Watch this space for further developments.

Saturday ODT Feature Article

On the first weekend of the school holidays (Sat 27th Sept) the ODT will feature an article about myself and Kidz Inc. It will discuss the development and growth of Kidz Inc from its humble beginnings to the community service that it is today. It covers the philosophy of how we work with children and the tools that we have developed to engage children and provide enrichment activities. It will explore the changing nature of holiday programmes and what experiences and memories children would get out of attending our holiday programme. The ODT will present this feature in a new magazine format for the first time. Enjoy the article and share.

LEGO Mindstorm Robotics

I recently visited the Robocup in Dunedin to see such a diverse range of Mindstorm projects that were constructed and programmed to meet challenges. These challenges include Robofootball, robodance, and search and rescue. Each challenge required students to design a machine that would include motors, sensors and a computer known as a brick, and then programme it to work within the parameters of the challenge. This was a totally engaging experience to see teams of young people work through these challenges. At Kidz Inc we will have access to LEGO Mindstorm for these Spring holidays and will be running courses in how to make these projects. If you are interested in being a part of this programme let us know. Places will be limited.

Like Us on Facebook

We have a page set up that we encourage parents to like. There are some posts that ask for you to feedback on the type of programme your child/ren would like to be involved in. We also post articles that are relevant to the focus we have in community development through working with children and families in the community. You can find the Kidz Inc Facebook page here.

Enrolment Steps

If you are looking to enrol your child/ren into our holiday programme please contact us and provide the name/s of your children, their age and the school they attend and the dates that they will be attending and which venue you would like them to attend (Maori Hill or NEV). If you are seeking a WINZ subsidy, you will need to let us know in advance. If you are an existing customer you will not need to fill out another enrolment form, you will just need to let us know if any of the details have changed. If you are enrolling for the first time, you will need to fill in an enrolment form and bring it along on the first day.

Invoicing & Payment Plans

All parents are invoiced at the end of the programme. If you are new to the programme, we ask for a deposit up front before the commencement of the programme.

If you are looking to reduce the costs and will be seeking long term use of our holiday programme, we have payment plans that take the financial pressure off families by spreading the cost over a 12 month period. For more information regarding this service follow the link here.

We ask that parents that have outstanding accounts to finalise them by the end of the school term. The cash flow of our business is directly tagged to pay our great staff. To ensure that our great service continues your prompt settlement of accounts is vital.
