Kidz Inc Tinker School, Fun Activities Together.

Our Model of Learning

Kidz Inc programmes place the student at the centre of their learning situation. They will learn when they need to learn (just-in-time), and act when they need to act. This model of learning keeps them interested and focused on what they really want to do...make things and have fun doing it!

We have a tinker totem that shows that when we are working together, our activities are meaningful, we treat everyone as being capable, that we encourage all children to own their problems, and that encouragement and success be celebrated.

Project Portfolio

At Kidz Inc we cover a wide range of activities such as:
kitemaking, electronics, ceramics, puppetmaking, cooking, musical, instruments, bubble wands, robotics, leatherwork, juggling sticks, enamelling, jewellery and digital film making. Check out our portfolio here.

Maketoys ToyMaker Drew Wills is the project guru at the Kidz Inc Tinker School. Check out www.maketoys.net.nz for some of his projects. He is Think It Make It Solve It in action!!

Listed below are the projects and activities for the next holiday programme, but first here are the three ways by which we create fun activities together:

Peer Support Games
These are games that encourage group participation and are fun to do. They are short and focused to foster a sense of belonging and connectedness.

Structured Enrichment Projects and Activities
These are activities guided by the staff that expose children to new knowledge and skills as they work towards the completion of a project. Whilst many projects are set up by the staff, children are encouraged to seek projects that they would be interested in doing.

Self Directed Activities
These are activities that require the initiative of the child to carry out. Examples of these activity types we provide are listed below.

READING BOOKS
PLAYING WITH BLOCKS
DOLLS & ACTION MEN
LEGO
DRAWING & PAINTING
WORD GAMES & THINK FUN GAMES
HUT BUILDING
CARD GAMES
BOARD GAMES
WII
FUSBAL
CIRCO ARTS ACTIVITIES
SPORTS & GAMES

While staff develop projects and have a good portfolio of peer support games as part of the preparation for the holiday programme and after school programme, children are encouraged to be involved in the types of projects and the decisionmaking of the peer support games they want to play.

These projects and activities take place on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Staff are trained to be flexible in the delivery of the programme. The programme listed below may change daily depending on the interests and the decisions made by the children attending.
