Hi Everyone,
I trust that all is well with you all as Anzac Day winds up and we look forward to another week. We all had a great time throughout the programme.Easter Wrap Up
The most striking feature throughout the holidays was the weather. Our Football Mad programme was a real hit, and many thanks is extended to Terry Parle, supercoach to the players. We will be looking forward to the World Cup next holiday programmes and introducing the children to international competition.Staff commented on once again how well the children worked with each other and included new children in their play. They had a supportive and understanding manner, creating their own activities as well as joining in on the structured activities prepared by staff. The stomp rockets were a real success. Check this activity along with all other activities throughout the programme at our image gallery.
Invoices and Receipts
Kidz Inc are currently processing the invoices from the Autumn 2010 programme. New clients are required to settle upon completion of the programme unless you are seeking a WINZ subsidy. Once confirmation is made for a WINZ subsidy, then an invoice will be issued with the outstanding balance for the account. Account holders on payment plans will be forwarded a statement showing the programme balance of payments. We are currently issuing receipts for the March2010 tax year. If you specifically need one just contact us with your current mailing address and we will mail one out.Innovation in Education
Focus: Community ConnectednessPrinciples are unchanging values that govern the natural lore of things. Principles guided by community connectedness are shaped by concepts of love, belonging, harmony, dynamics & equilibrium. Community connectedness is about social systems, which a technology based learning programme is designed to teach (see News 17Dec09: Technology Immersion).
People work together to engage in meaningful work. It is a social idea that fosters a sense of belonging and achievement. In this social environment, everyone is capable, we all are competent and together we work towards our goals. For children, engaging them into meaningful social or community work, requires engaging them in meaningful play. This gives them permission to find themselves and connect in a meaningful way with the people, activities and environment around them.
Here they can seek knowledge, acquire skills, create choice, take calculated risks, make decisions and deal with the consequences towards a solution in a community that is their friends, family and is their home. Unconditional belonging and acceptance ensures that we are valued for who we are, and we all have unique gifts to offer. When this is acknowledged within a community the people feel special and part of something bigger.

Football Mad Takes Off
It has been a great start for the Association Football season here in Dunedin with many children of all ages and abilities as Football Mad got underway. Under the instruction of Terry Parle, all children were introduced into the world of fine ball skill development, tactical positioning and outright fun games to improve agility and awareness. Each day had new activities to do with the ball, and in the time they had off from soccer, they joined in on what else Kidz inc had on offer. Check out the photos in the Gallery.MacBay Welcomes Deborah Cox

Family Pet
An older, tired-looking dog wandered into my yard. I could tell from his collar and well-fed belly that he was well taken care of. He calmly came over to me, I gave him a few pats on his head. He then followed me into my house, slowly walked down the hall, curled up in the corner and fell asleep. An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out. The next day he was back, greeted me in my yard, walked inside and resumed his spot in the hall and again slept for about an hour. This continued off and on for several weeks. Curious, I pinned a note to his collar:'I would like to find out who the owner of this wonderful sweet dog is and ask if you are aware that almost every afternoon your dog comes to my house for a nap.'
The next day he arrived for his nap, with a different note pinned to his collar:
'He lives in a home with 6 children, 2 under the age of 3 - he's trying to catch up on his sleep. Can I come with him tomorrow?'
